HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR SYSTEM

While purchasing an audio, video, or lighting system can be quite an investment, we can offer you a few tips on how to make sure that your system lasts for many years to come. General maintenance is simple and easy to do.

Keep Things Clean

The most important part of maintaining your system is keeping things clean. Dust and dirt is the enemy of all electrical equipment but can cause even more damage to sound and video equipment. Fans on amplifiers and projectors are particularly susceptible to collection of dust and can cause this equipment to overheat and eventually fail. Take the time and remember to check these items every six months and clean with a jet of compressed air. This simple task can easily extend the lifespan of your equipment by several years. It is also important to keep the area around your equipment clean and organized as this can reduce ventilation problems and extend the life of your system.

Cable Management

Taking care of your cables is also a must! Whenever any of your cables, like mic cables, or instrument cables are not in use it is important to coil them and store them properly. The majority of system problems come from a damaged cable. This applies to installed cables as well. If something stops working try swapping out some cables. This is likely the culprit and can spare you from an expensive repair or service call. We recommend that cables be stored in an organized bin or drawer, or if you are looking for a more permanent solution creating a cable wall is always a good choice.

Regular Professional Maintenance

We highly recommend that you have a professional check out your system once a year. The average lifespan of a sound system is 5-8 years. With regular maintenance by a professional you can easily increase the lifespan to 10-12 years! A professional service call will not only increase the lifespan of your system but also get your system sounding and looking like it did the day it was installed. Over time settings can be changed and rooms can be renovated and all of these can affect the overall sound of your system. A professional service call can reset all of these sensitive settings back to the ideal setting for optimal performance.
